Our popular hoodie design competition is back for another year. Want to have your design featured? Create and submit your unique design for the chance to collaborate on a limited-edition University hoodie and win $1000.
How does Sydney ‘make it happen’ for you?
Has making friends at Sydney changed your life? Has joining a club or society led you to discover new passions? Has coming to Sydney opened new doors?
Whatever it may be, we want you to show us how the University of Sydney has made it happen for you with your own design.
Enter the ‘Make it happen' hoodie design competition by Sunday 11 August 2024 for the chance to have your design featured on a limited-edition University of Sydney hoodie and win $1000 in the form of a gift-card.
How do I enter the competition?
- Create an original design that addresses the following theme: How does the University of Sydney ‘make it happen’ for you?
- Write a 100-word summary on the thinking behind the design.
- Submit your design file as an attachment through the entry form by Sunday 11 August 11:59 pm.

What are the guidelines for the design?
Your design will be printed on the back of a hoodie. It will need to:
- be either a JPG, PNG, PDF or TIFF file
- fit the maximum size guide: 30 cm wide by 40 cm high
- include at least 2-5 colours
- reflect the prompt above and include visual references to the University of Sydney, for example, iconic buildings, symbols, art, places or research.
If you're using design software, please save an editable version of your design (for example, Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator file) in case minor changes are needed to ensure the design can be printed.

Who can enter the competition?
All currently enrolled University of Sydney students who are over 18 years of age can enter the 'Make it happen' hoodie design competition.
What is the competition period?
The competition launches on Monday 29 July and will close on Sunday 11 August.
What is the judging process for the competition?
There will be two rounds of judging for the competition.
Round one: Monday 12 August - Friday 16 August.
Entries will be judged by Marketing and Communications staff and University of Sydney Union (USU) staff.
Shortlisted participants will be notified by their nominated University email address on Monday 19 August.
Round 2: Tuesday 3 September – Wednesday 4 September
The selected shortlisted designs will then go to a 'People's choice' selection on Tuesday 3 September, where the entrant with the most votes on the University of Sydney's Instagram channel by Wednesday 4 September, will win the competition.
When will the winner be annouced?
The winner and runner-up will be announced via our Instagram on Monday 9 September.
Where can I purchase the hoodie with the winning design?
The hoodie with the winning design can be purchased from USU stores approximately three weeks after the winning design has been selected.
