2025 unit information

This unit equips Archaeology Honours students with the research skills necessary to effectively design, research and write an Archaeology Honours thesis. Students also explore theoretical frameworks in Archaeology and learn how to apply these in the context of their own Honours research.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Develop in depth knowledge of the subject matter covered in their own research thesis, including previous work and research questions, theory, methodology, data and research context issues
  • LO2. Develop • improved skills in initiating and managing an independent archaeological research project under supervision, presenting research seminars to an audience, and writing and production of an 18-20,000 word thesis
  • LO3. Develop improved abilities in independent learning, high level critical thinking, information literacy, research and interpretative skills, taking responsibility for managing their own work and working with other people in a research and professional environment.
