This unit of study is focused on studio-based production of utilitarian, ceremonial and sculptural objects using silversmithing techniques. In the Jewellery & Object workshops at SCA you will explore sinking, raising, hot-forging, planishing and related bench processes. In parallel you will examine the historical foundations and key principles of contemporary metalsmithing through research assignments, individual tutorials and group critiques. Launching from this technical and conceptual platform you will develop an individual project informed by your research interests.
