The unit focuses on advanced criminology theory and research methods. Students will learn methods for collecting and analysing data for criminological research, deepening their understanding of methods such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, media, content and narrative analysis, and engaging with debates around interviewing criminal justice stakeholders and researching with vulnerable communities. Students will engage with criminology theory applied to addressing research questions. Theoretical approaches will include classical, administrative, critical, feminist, cultural, visual, narrative, sonic, radical, abolitionist, Indigenous and anti-colonial criminology, victimology, zemiology.
