CRIM4103: Criminology Honours Thesis 1

2025 unit information

This unit provides students the opportunity to begin developing their own research project working closely with their supervisors and engaging in activities that will facilitate the timely completion of their research. Activities may include drafting a literature and methods review, submitting an ethics application, and the scoping for fieldwork.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Gain insight into a range of complex criminology theories and their possible applications
  • LO2. Plan, design and implement a research project through ongoing discussion with individual supervisors
  • LO3. Gather relevant information and data which will form the basis of the thesis
  • LO4. Build and apply analytical skills to data and theory
  • LO5. Gain confidence in using different theories to elucidate aspects of the dissertation
  • LO6. Produce a dissertation which potentially resolves contemporary issues
