Fluid resuscitation, vasopressors and inotropes are important instruments in the practical toolkit of the critical care specialist. Formal training in principles and practice of haemodynamic assessment and management is of interest to junior doctors expecting to complete training in anaesthesia, emergency medicine, intensive care and retrieval medicine.
