This unit provides extensive experience in diagnosis, prognosis, treatment planning, treatment, maintenance and re-evaluation of routine and complex periodontitis and implant/peri-implantitis patients. The focus in the 3rd year is on the treatment of advanced/complex patients requiring complex, comprehensive and/or interdisciplinary treatment as well as advanced plastic periodontal surgery. Furthermore, students are re-evaluating their patients treated during the DClinDent-Periodontics course to assess the achieved treatment outcomes and to reflect the conducted treatment plan. Students undertake clinical care of patients at Sydney Dental Hospital and the Westmead Centre for Oral Health, Westmead under supervision. Students may be required to attend classes at multiple locations.
