DENT6412: Advanced Clinical Prosthodontics 4A

2025 unit information

This unit provides continued advanced training at the highest postgraduate level in clinical prosthodontics. Students undertake advanced multidisciplinary clinical care of patients under supervision. Continued development of skills in diagnosis, treatment planning; prognosis and delivery of advanced multidisciplinary reorganised occlusal and craniofacial prosthodontic rehabilitation. The focus of the 3nd year is on the delivery, follow up and commencement of maintenance of all cases. Students may be required to attend classes at multiple locations.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. demonstrate professional clinical reasoning and judgement, and the technical skills required to competently diagnose relevant systemic, oral and dental diseases including oral and cranio-facial defects and anomalies pertaining to the specialty
  • LO2. demonstrate the cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills required for the management of patients requiring removable, tooth and implant supported fixed, removable and fixed-removable prostheses as required from a board registered prosthodontic specialist
  • LO3. appraise, argue and defend the knowledge and clinical application of prosthodontic procedures as required from a board registered specialist
  • LO4. reflect and appraise the outcomes assessments of the clinical treatment administered to the patients treated
  • LO5. demonstrate competence in the design and application of a comprehensive maintenance program for the prosthodontic patient.
