2025 unit information

This unit provides an overview of structural modelling and structural estimation techniques for macroeconomic applications. The unit aims to provide students with the tools to empirically evaluate the causal effects of monetary and fiscal policy in macroeconomic data using the suite of models commonly employed by central banks.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. demonstrate an understanding of the basic theories of macroeconomics
  • LO2. analyse and interpret economic information from diverse sources using economic and econometric models
  • LO3. select and utilise relevant techniques and principles to analyse economic events
  • LO4. compile and present relevant economic information to decision-makers using appropriate data management and IT tools.
