The focus of this unit is the organisation of international trade, introducing competing theoretical perspectives on trade and the regulation of international business. You will explore the historical foundations of the global economy, as well as recent trends and shifts in policy and practice that shape the activities of global business organisation. This includes free trade agreements, financing arrangements and the organisation of capital and labour into global value chains. We will also consider the role of international institutions like the World Trade Organization and the interaction of trade with pressing socio-ecomonic issues such as climate change.
