This unit leads to the development and performance of a black box style performance, demonstrating embodiment skills and rehearsal preparation requisite for professional practice in music theatre. In addition to the healthy embodiment of sound, physicality, students learn the skills needed to embody character in an ensemble context. Students extend their acting technique to practical rehearsals and public performance, including through training in stage fighting, intimacy choreography, and methods developed by Yeo specific to the use of voice and embodiment on the music theatre stage. Students will also undertake further skills-based learning in pursuit of holistic performance preparation, under the tutelage of industry experts, including an expert choreographer, drama coach and director.
