This unit examines the Hollywood studio film before and after the Internet. It studies Hollywood's power as a cultural symbol, its relationship to film production, cultures of reception, and digital distribution. This will include not only the analysis of feature films but also the ideas of filmmakers, theorists and media scholars. Questions of technology, authorship and audience will be a focus of the unit.
