The theme is intended to refer to the process of translation of theses into books. But it is also relevant to that shift from writing the thesis to writing books.

We are grateful to have in attendance Karen Hildebrandt from Oxford University Press who will fly up from Melbourne. Planning is still underway but we are hoping also to have as speakers
-staff seeking to translate their thesis into book
-researchers in the middle of it
-staff with experience in writing proposals.

This event will form our welcome for 2010 so new members of our research community are especially invited and we shall organise for some wine/non-alcoholic beverages and cheese. In other words, please make every effort to attend to renew your acquaintance with fellow researchers but also meet new members of the dept.
