Description
This unit of study will build on foundational writing, research and interviewing skills acquired in MECO1003 Principles of Media Writing. The focus will be on writing for print media and will emphasise advanced feature and opinion writing genres. Students will also study the history of print media genres and consider theoretical issues relevant to feature writing.
Assessments
1x500wd equivalent oral presentation (10%), 1x1200wd news feature (25%), 1x600wd review or opinion column (15%), 1x250wd equivalent oral pitch of final feature (5%), 1x2000wd long feature (40%), 1x250wd publication analysis (5%)

Prerequisites
12 junior credit points from MECO units and 6 junior credit points from either MECO1002, WRIT1001, WRIT1002, ENGL1025 or ENGL1007. Note: Students enrolling from 2010 should plan to take MECO1002 as per degree regulations
