Songs for Sylvie

Songs for Sylvie is a poetic journey through the past, present and future of one woman: Sylvie. She explores questions of obligation, passion, and love in regard to her life and those of her family.
Sylvie, played by Tori Dixon-Whittle, leads the audience on a complex journey to determine directions that she must take in life that will have the ultimate meaning for her and those close to her. It is through the stories from her own family history that the way becomes clear.
Tori Dixon-Whittle spent 16 years performing in the film, television and theatre arena. Roles included the lead female in the film Spank!, featuring with Harry Hamlin & Susan Dey in the film Disappearance, and Hero in Shakespeare Under the Stars' production of Much Ado About Nothing in the Adelaide Festival.
However, she took a departure from the acting arena almost a decade ago in order to start a family. Tori now has 3 children with artist David Bromley. During her performing hiatus she channelled her creative energies into renovating over 20 properties, developed her design skills starting up labels such as Hallo Homewares and Velo Rouge children’s clothing and moved to Melbourne from SA.
Tori’s love of theatre has never been extinguished and she has recently returned to the stage in Melbourne with her self-written one-woman play, Songs for Sylvie. Rave reviews have prompted her to bring the play to Sydney:
"Amazing... beautifully written play... a pleasure to watch" Mary Laffner
“A totally captivating performance!” Gabriella Starzynski
"Spectacular" Dhruva Gorrick
"A glittering star on the stage... such a beautiful night." Kaaren Overliese
