Eligibility for honours varies depending on the course, so you'll need to check the faculty and schools programs page for the course you're interested in.
Entry to honours is competitive. Places are often limited and depend on supervisors being available. This means entry to honours is not guaranteed by meeting the eligibility criteria, and may require a higher WAM.
Typical eligibility criteria can include:
- a strong academic record, with a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 to 75 percent depending on the type of honours you intend to complete. This is automatically checked when we process your application
- if your undergraduate degree has majors, you'll need to have completed a relevant major related to the honours discipline
- you may need to have completed prerequisite units during your undergraduate course - check your Handbook to see if this relates to you
- you may need to meet additional critieria set by the Head of School or Discipline
- you may need to show that you have the ability to conduct high-quality academic research by preparing a research proposal.
