Dr.Soundappan is Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics. He is a Senior Staff Specialist and Head of Trauma at Children's Hospital at Westmead. His clinical interets are Paediatric trauma care, Hirschsprung's disease, Anorectal anomalies, Hypospadias, Point of care Ultrasound and Minimally Invasive surgery.

Clinical research on Trauma care to improve outcomes, quality of care and Injury prevention.

Clinical research in Hirschsprung's disease and anorectal anomalies.

Long term outcomes in Paediatric Surgery.

Point of care Ultrasound (POCUS).

Dr.Soundappan strongly believes knowledge is to be shared. He is actively involved in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching. He directs "Trauma for Tiny Tots" a simulation based team training course run at The Children's Hospital. He is involved in developing teaching and learning resources in Paediatric Surgery.
