About us
Advancing rehabilitation for people with injuries and injury–related disability
,
In partnership with the Northern Sydney Local Health District, and the Kolling Institute at Royal North Shore Hospital, we bring together research experts from rehabilitation medicine, clinical psychology, neurosciences, physiotherapy, social work, lived experience, co-design and epidemiology.
Our research plays an important role in the global education of healthcare professionals and has led to the improvement of post-injury management.
Professor John Walsh AO (1950-2024), was one of the architects of the NDIS. He was an appointed professor at the University of Sydney and an honorary fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He applied his expertise in actuarial science to many research projects, particularly in policy development in disability and rehabilitation. Our centre is named in honour of Professor Walsh.
Our research group brings together experts who work as senior clinicians in rehabilitation medicine, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, neurosciences and epidemiology.
Supported by a culture of collaboration, we work closely with State and Australian governments and funding partners to ensure our research continually benefits both injured people and service providers.
