Pushing medical and health boundaries to shape tomorrow
Our centres are collaborative, diverse and expert. Collectively, they undertake transformative research across all disciplines of medicine and health to address the needs of society and improve health outcomes for all.
Our centres fall under three distinct categories and undertake research of strategic importance.
Our flagship centres conduct world-leading research to address significant, long-term challenges and are focused on delivering outcomes through the execution of multiple research programmes in their defined field.
Leading cancer control and policy – providing timely and relevant evidence to national and international policy-makers to inform best-practice decision-making in cancer control.
Bringing together researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience to synergise data, harness new technologies and trial innovative programs to prevent and treat mental and substance use disorders.
Adding value across the full spectrum of trials research – from identifying important gaps and research questions, and developing and conducting trials, to collecting and analysing data, reporting, and synthesising research results.
Research and policy to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and help close the gap.
Home to Australia’s leading ophthalmologists, researchers and scientists. We conduct research and clinical trials, treat patients in our clinic and educate the next generation of eye specialists.
Meeting the challenge of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases by increasing capacity and developing strategies to prevent, contain and control infectious diseases.
A partnership between the University of Sydney, Sydney Local Health District and Northern Sydney Local Health District. We work with leaders in health on research, clinical services and training.
Our impact centres focus on specific areas of health and medical research of national significance. They deliver concentrated expertise on one or two subjects within their defined research area.
Our Incubators identify a societal need and look to test their research capabilities to meet the challenge of addressing it.
They bring together researchers who may not otherwise collaborate, to take a risk on a new idea with the potential for significant community impact.
