Approximately 20 scholarships will be awarded globally per year across the two intakes focusing on diversity of course and diversity of nationality. The information listed here is subject to change without notice. Information describing the number and value of scholarships awarded is indicative.
The scholarship will provide the below benefits for the published full-time duration of the recipient’s single undergraduate degree (including embedded honours) up to a maximum total duration of 4 years full-time study.
No other amount is payable. Recipients are responsible for all other costs for studying at the University of Sydney including but not limited to, Overseas Health Cover (OSHC), living costs, accommodation, textbooks, flights and costs associated with being under the age of 18.

The scholarship was established to support exceptional international students from diverse priority markets study across diverse undergraduate courses at the University of Sydney.
1. Background
a. The Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship was established in 2024 to support exceptional international students from diverse priority markets study across diverse undergraduate courses at the University of Sydney.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must have applied for but not yet commenced a single undergraduate coursework degree (may include embedded honours) at the University of Sydney at the time of award which has a maximum duration of 4 years.
b. Only applicants who apply for eligible courses will be considered for this scholarship. The scholarship is not available for combined degrees with a postgraduate component, the Bachelor of Arts (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France), Bachelor of Economics (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France) and degrees that include the Bachelor of Advanced Studies.
c. Applicants must enrol in their eligible degree full-time.
d. Applicants commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney are not eligible to apply.
e. Applicants must be an international student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003. Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents and dual citizens with Australian nationality are not eligible.
f. Applicants must have completed secondary school (or a foundation program in Australia or from a University of Sydney recognised foundation partner).
g. Applicants must not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a year 12 program).
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit from the applicants application for admission and meeting the minimum threshold set by the selection committee,
II. completion of an online application form,
III. diversity of nationality, and
IV. diversity of intended degree.
b. The scholarship will be awarded a selection committee consisting of:
I. Director, International or their nominated delegate,
II. Director, Admissions or their nominated delegate, and the
III. International Officer.
c. Other committee members may be co-opted into the committee on a needs basis as determined by the Director, International.
d. The decision of the selection committee is final.
e. Recipients must accept their unconditional offer of admission and scholarship offer by the required deadline. Failing to do so will result in the scholarship offer being rescinded.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship will provide the below benefits for the published full-time duration of the recipient’s single undergraduate degree (including embedded honours) up to a maximum total duration of 4 years full-time study.
I. 100% tuition fees, and
II. Student Services Amenities Fee.
b. The scholarship can not be extended without the prior approval of Director, International.
c. Deferral and suspension of the scholarship is not permitted.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable. Recipients are responsible for all other costs for studying at the University of Sydney including but not limited to, Overseas Health Cover (OSHC), living costs, accommodation, textbooks, flights and costs associated with being under the age of 18.
5. Ongoing eligibility
a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must:
I. maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester,
II. have no outstanding fees, and
III. complete their degree within the published full-time duration.
b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment. Any costs related to Study Abroad or exchange will not be covered by this scholarship.
6. Transfer of major or degree
a. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another stream, degree or Faculty.
b. If a recipient transfers courses or accepts a course offer for a different course to which the scholarship was offered for, the scholarship cannot be applied as it is non-transferable.
7. Other Requirements
a. Recipients may be invited to promote the:
I. program in which they are enrolled, and
II. scholarship.
b. Recipients may be invited to represent the University of Sydney at student, marketing and corporate networking events. Costs of representing the University of Sydney at these events will be covered by the University of Sydney.
8. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. becomes a domestic student,
III. changes nationality,
IV. commences part-time enrolment,
V. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave,
VII. receives another commencing student scholarship except for the Sydney International Student Award, or
VIII. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
