Professional Development

Making Connections in learning and teaching

At UNSW we value peer-to-peer sharing of best practice, innovation and ideas in university learning and teaching. Echo360 has enabled academic and professional staff across multiple campuses to engage in this wider learning and teaching community. Embedding the use of Echo360 in our professional development sessions, subtly exposes staff to the functionality and benefits of the application.

Catherine Ryan is an Educational Developer, in the Academic Development Services Unit of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) at UNSW. In this central unit Catherine manages the Connections Seminar and Workshops series, provides support and workshops for Echo360 and coordinates the annual Learning & Teaching Forum.

A new professional development program for university educators

What do we expect from in-house professional development resources designed to improve our knowledge and skills in university teaching? This session involves sharing stories of learning opportunities that have been particularly valuable, learning from each other’s areas of strength and identifying needs for future development. Your ideas will help us to design a PD program that would be valuable for you.

Kimberly Baskin is an Educational Designer (Student Experience) at Educational Innovation. Her focus this year is designing the university-wide Modular Professional Learning Framework (MPLF) which aims to provide targeted professional learning resources for staff involved in teaching. She was previously a teacher, coordinator, blended learning designer and education manager of higher education courses. Kimberly has designed and delivered professional development activities for staff at the Centre for English Teaching (CET) since 2015.
