Creative Writing

Coursework

The Creative Writing course allows candidates to pursue a critical study of current trends in poetry and prose while developing their writing skills through a series of structured workshops guided by leading writers from various genres. You can learn first-hand from a number of well-known and recently published writers and publishing industry representatives. Writers on staff include Judith Beveridge, Sue Woolfe, David Brooks and Ian David. Visitors to the program in recent years include Louis Nowra, J.S. Harry, David Malouf, Kate Grenville, John Tranter, Thomas Keneally, Katherine Thompson and Fiona McGregor. Some of the units of study available in this degree include: Poetry Workshop, Screenwriting Workshop, Major Movements in Contemporary Prose, Creative Non-Fiction Workshop.

Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing
Candidates for Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing must complete 24 credit points of units of study.

Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing
Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing must complete 36 credit points of units of study.

Master of Creative Writing
Candidates for the Master of Creative Writing must complete 48 credit points of units of study.

Master of Letters (Creative Writing)
Candidates for the Master of Letters (Creative Writing) must complete the two treatise units of study (24 credit points) listed for the course.
