Can the lawyers catch up to the teachers? All will be revealed on Wednesday when the champions of the Interfaculty Sport competition for 2012 will be decided.

For 16 weeks each year students and staff from 16 faculties of the University of Sydney compete in the Interfaculty Sport competition.

The Faculty of Education and Social Work are currently leading the competition, with Sydney Law School in second place and the Faculty of Health Sciences in third place.

A 5km run, held on Oval number 1 of the Camperdown campus, at 3pm on Wednesday 17 October will be the final event for 2012. See the current scores on the Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness website.

The 5km run is the biggest sporting event for the Interfac calendar with every participant who crosses the finish line getting a point for their faculty. The faculty with the most points will be crowned the Emily Small Shield Champions.

Interfaculty Sport has been a significant feature of life at the University since 1939.

Since then, students and staff from all faculties from Medicine to Education, battle it out each Wednesday from 11am to 4pm in sports that include basketball, touch football and mixed soccer.

Points are awarded to the winners and place-getters of each competition and for participation.
