Dr Joe Zveglich, the Asian Development Bank's Assistant Chief Economist, will launch the ADB's annual economic forecast for the region at the University on Tuesday 9 April.

The Asian Development Outlook 2013 includes analysis of 45 economies in developing Asia and the Pacific, including China and India, with growth projections by country and region.

Dr Zveglich will asses the immediate economic prospects for the region and the risks that lie ahead. He will discuss what lessons can be learnt from the resilience of the ASEAN economies, and consider the effects of quantitative easing monetary policy in the mature economies.

He will also introduce the special theme of this year's report, Asia's Energy Challenge, which explores how the region can ensure adequate, accessible, clean energy to achieve its growth potential.

The launch will be held in the International Portfolio seminar room in the John Woolley Building at 12 noon. The ADB is a knowledge partner of the University.

Following Dr Zveglich's presentation, Ms Emma Veve, Principal Economist from ADB's Pacific Department, will introduce highlights from the Pacific section of the report.
