Snow in the Quadrangle? For an hour yesterday afternoon the University took on a strangely wintry appearance under what looked like a dusting of snow.
The effect was caused by a severe thunderstorm which rumbled through the Inner West of Sydney, dumping a covering of pea-sized hailstones on the ground.
The storm hit just after 4pm, accompanied by a rapid drop in temperature from 20C to 12C in just two hours.
The Quadrangle quickly turned white as the University took almost the full brunt of the storm -although in nearby Annandale the hailstones were 5cm deep in places.
