Summary: A medical bungle blinded Ron McCallum hours after his birth. Was this tragedy the making of him? From working-class roots Ron became Australia's first blind professor and today is Dean of Law at the University of Sydney. Ron once told his good friend Father Frank Brennan that his blindness was a "blessing" as it had given him a quality of life that he may not otherwise have had. A practising Christian Ron is married to University of Sydney academic Mary Crock, and they have three children. His faith sustains and informs his work, providing a strong religious and ethical basis for his legal views. Ron has an extraordinary story to tell and this engaging profile reveals his open, tolerant and idiosyncratic philosophy of life
