Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli to share his vision for the future
21 August 2012
The Honourable Adrian Piccoli MP, State Minister for Education, will visit the University of Sydney this Wednesday to deliver a public talk about the recent report from the NSW Department of Education and Communities Local Schools, Local Decisions.
The Minister will discuss his vision for progress and innovation through the five reform areas identified in this report: managing resources; staff in our schools; working locally; reducing red tape; making decisions.
Of special interest will be comments that relate to the ongoing tensions between states and the federal government on school funding as well as recent comments by the minister on the role of teachers. Earlier this month the Minister released the discussion paper Great Teaching, Great Learning, which aims to improve teacher quality.
Introduced by the Dean for the Faculty of Education and Social Work, Professor Rob Tierney, the Minister will take questions from the audience and from the Dean.
