Two of our top women students awarded at the Google 2006 Australia Anita Borg Scholarship.

Joanne Jakovich, PhD candidate in Design Computing and Cognition, and Andrea Lau, Bachelor of Design Computing Honours Candidate were awarded $1000 scholarships.

"Selection criteria include academic performance, letters of recommendation, answers to short essay questions and interviews with members of the review committee," Google said.

The program has run in the US for the past three years, but this is the first year it's been extended to Australia.

All 16 finalists were invited to Google's Sydney headquarters for a "networking retreat" last Friday.
