Emeritus Professor Warren Julian receives Order of Australia

Emeritus Professor Warren Julian has received an Order of Australia for service to illumination engineering, particularly in education and research; to educational administration, and to professional associations.

The most eminent researcher and educator in the field of illumination in the region, Professor Julian has had a very long association with the Faculty and the University, including two periods as Dean. A Life Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and NZ; Professor Julian led the graduate Illumination Design program for a long period while also sustaining an outstanding research output.

He is the author of 180 books, book chapters, scientific papers and articles on lighting-related subjects.

Also recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours is alumnus Richard Leplastrier (BArch 1963), who was honoured with the title Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to architecture, particularly through the application of environmentally sensitive design, and as an educator and mentor. Leplastrier has been a regular contributor to the architectural program.
