Construction and Surveying Camp a Great Success
24 April 2006
160 2nd year students from 2nd year Engineering Construction and Surveying travelled to Webb's Creek, near Wiseman's Ferry in north western Sydney, for the reinstituted camp.
Civil Engineering Alumni will remember the Survey Camp run at Yarramundi for nearly 60 years with great fondness, and the School has redesigned the activities into a much shorter camp designed to address technical and generic skills.
Students performed 3 surveying exercises as part of a road construction. They quickly learned it is much harder to do level run between two points in the bush on steep ground compared to campus exercises. After several sessions the students' skill levels improved dramatically.
The student society SUCE ran a BBQ for all students on the Friday night which was a great success - seeing intermingling between students and staff.
