Research Conversazione a great success

1 November 2006

The annual Faculty of Engineering Research Conversazione was held on Friday October 27. It was jointly organised by the Civil Engineering Foundation, and the four other foundations across the Faculty, with overall co-ordination provided by Engineering Sydney.

Lunch enabled academics and industry experts to rub shoulders and network amongst themselves, before hearing the keynote speech from the the new Director of the Business Liaison Office, Dr Issac Shariv, sharing his views on the future of academic-industry research partnerships.

In the afternoon, participants separated into the different schools to see some of the current research projects being undertaken by our postgraduate and undergraduate students. The newly refurbished Civil Engineering Drawing Office was filled by interaction between industry professionals, academics and students, as they showed off the fruits of some of their recent research.

Attendees were also required to vote on the best poster presentations, and congratulations go to Matthew Mason and Julie Edwards who won the postgraduate and undergraduate prizes.
