International engineering academics speak at Sydney

The School's weekly research seminar series had to squeeze in some extra sessions in the last week as we were visited by several experts from around the world.

Prof Miles Rubin from the Technion in Israel outlined some of his latest findings in numerical analysis using finite elements.

Prof Bhushan Karihaloo, formerly a Professor on staff at Sydney, and now in Cardiff, Wales, spoke of the latest research in Fibre Reinforced Concrete.

Dr Yue Li, from Michaigan Tech, gave a seminar on natural hazards and risk mitigation, focusing on earthquakes and hurricanes.

The week was rounded off with a Learning and Teaching seminar, byEmeritus Professor Fred Lockwood, on the decision making criteria for different media in educational design.
