2009 UAIs announced

22 January 2009

2009 UAIs for university entry have been recently announced. The high UAIs demonstrates a continued high level of interest in the engineering profession, and also that a higher percentage of high performing students are choosing Civil Engineering. This is particularly so because the University of Sydney does not use bonus point schemes that inflate UAI cut-offs but base its intake on raw UAI scores.

The School is extremely pleased by the level of interest and applications of high UAI students in our new combined degree in Civil Engineering and Design in Architecture. The University has decided to make substantially more offers than originally anticipated in this exciting new degree, and we are confident this will be the start of new generation of high performing professionals who can bridge the gap between engineers and architects in the building industry.

Also most pleasing for the School is the large number of students who choose Civil Engineering as their stream after the flexible first year. It confirms our belief that school leavers and new University engineering students recognise the imperative need for Civil Engineers to rebuild and expand Australia's infrastructure for it to sustain its domestic growth and support its main export industries.
