Well done to the class of 2009
18 May 2009
Friday May 15 2009 marked an important day in the careers of nearly 120 young men and women who graduated with their civil engineering degrees.
The day began with a special early lunch in the Civil Engineering Drawing Office. Speeches were given by Head of School, Professor Kim Rasmussen, George Mariasson on behalf of the Civil Engineering Graduates Association, and Kourosh Kayvani, Vice-President of the Civil Engineering Foundation.
Finally students who had achieved academic excellence and had received prizes during the degree were given certificates.
Guest of Honour at the function was Harry Partridge. He presented the certificates for our newest prize to Linda Rozali. The Partridge Partner Prize in Civil Engineering is offered to the student in Civil Engineering Design who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to express emotional response to art and to articulate self-expression through art.
Students then made their way to the Great Hall for the Graduation Ceremony and received their degrees from the Deputy Chancellor. The occasional address was delivered by Dr Stuart McGill, former Senior Vice-President of Exxon Mobil.
Smiles all round were seen as the Academic Procession left the Great Hall followed by the new graduates who are now all University of Sydney Civil Engineering Alumni.
