26 May 2010
More than 330 students from Compass partner schools converged on Sydney Olympic Park to participate in the fifth annual Science in the Suburbs.
Schools represented included Condell Park High School and Kogarah, Panania, Yagoona and Bexley public schools.
One of the major science curriculum events on the school calendar, Science in the Suburbs and its sister event Science in the City provide days of hands-on activities, workshops and demonstrations on an amazing array of science-related topics including:
- Electrics: Generators, Batteries & Fuel Cells
- Space Rockets and Exploration
- Palaeontology Through Puppetry
- Science Non-Fiction: The History & Science of Lasers
The events are delivered by scientists from CSIRO, Powerhouse Museum, Questacon, Australian Geographic Society and the University of Sydney. More Compass partner schools will be attending the Science in the City event in August.
