Extra, Extra - Read all about it...

19 August 2010

Extra, extra books are exactly what the Compass team needs so that hundreds of young children can read all about it.

During book week (August 21st - 27th) we're asking you to donate readers and chapter books appropriate for students in kindergarten through to year six. Book week is the longest running children's festival in Australia and it provides a great opportunity to spark and nurture a love of reading and books.

For some of our partner schools having access to an adequate range of books for their students to read can be difficult, so they have asked Compass to help them source books for their libraries.

Fostering a connection to reading, story telling and rich text is paramount for improving children's literacy. For low-progress readers, having books with themes that interest them is an excellent way to build their love of reading, so the more books the children have to choose from, the more exciting reading will be.
