A Reluctant Farewell to Our OT Students

30 September 2010

Six University of Sydney Occupational Therapy (OT) students have completed their placements in Athelstane, Bexley, Kogarah, Condell Park, Yagoona and Wattawa Heights Public Schools. After spending two terms imbedded in classrooms in each of the schools, teachers and students alike have reluctantly farewelled the 4th year university students. Acting Principal at Kogarah Public School Liz Vandermaal said "the OT program with Compass has been invaluable. The students really settled in here and they will be sorely missed"

During their stay with Compass schools, they have developed activities to correct students postures, strengthen their hands and improve their handwriting. The good news is that the OT students will return to the school in early Term 4 to facilitate a workshop with teachers demonstrating practical activities that can be implemented in the classroom and more of our Compass schools will benefit from this fantastic program again in 2011.
