2010 Compass Showcase - a great success

4 November 2010

Despite the rather ominous rain clouds filling the sky on Sunday morning, more than 300 students, parents, teachers from our partner schools joined University of Sydney staff and student volunteers to celebrate the first year of the Compass - find your way to higher education program.

Since the launch of the Compass program in June 2009, thousands of school students, their teachers and parents, University of Sydney students and staff have participated in a range of activities focused on promoting attainment and aspiration in Compass school communities.

Student films completed as part of the Compass program were premiered at the event, along with a video montage with dozens of students, teachers and student volunteers talking about the impact that Compass has had on them and their school communities. After formalities, the clouds dispersed providing a beautiful day to BBQ on the University grounds and a wonderful opportunity for our parents and students to visit Sydney Museums, take a heritage tour and watch engineering students work on their latest racing car at Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering labs.
