Teachers learn tricks of the film editing trade
3 March 2011
As the pressure continually mounts for teachers' to utilise technology in their teaching practice, the Compass Film Editing and Production program's aim is to develop teachers' information and communication technology skills over a 6 week intensive film program starting with a one-day intensive PD session for teachers. Running for the 3rd consecutive year in our partner schools, the Film Editing program has been enjoyed by hundreds of students to date with Marrickville public school taking out honours at ABC 3's Short Film Awards in 2010.
Last week 12 teachers from Marrickville PS, Bexley PS, Marrickville West PS, Condell Park HS, Condell Park PS, Kogarah IEC and Kogarah spent an intensive day's training on developing film ideas, shooting and editing movies with facilitator and Sydney College of the Arts student Jack McGrath at the University of Sydney. While there is much to cover in these sessions one attendee said "it was sooo much fun that I can't wait to get started. Can you let Jack know that I had a fabulous day " . Jack and Compass look forward to how each of the schools create, develop and shoot their films throughout 2011.
