Compass thanks volunteers for a successful semester

23 June 2011

Semester 1 has been a tremendous success for the Compass volunteering programs. Our Word Up and Homework Club volunteers have made a significant impact on students, while our Classroom Activity Facilitators have pioneered a new program that has been very well received in our partner primary schools.

To acknowledge their commitment and hard work, Compass was delighted to host an end-of-semester function for our volunteers. Volunteers had the opportunity to catch up with each other and reflect on their achievements.

"Our volunteers are the greatest asset to the Compass program. In any one month they spend 200 hours in school to raise the attainment and aspiration of school students," said Mike Tran, Compass Volunteer Coordinator. "Our partner schools have asked Compass to find even more volunteers for Semester 2 and this is because of the quality of what the volunteers contributed in the first half of the year."

We wish our volunteers all the best for the exam period and University holidays and look forward to seeing them again in Semester 2!
