'I am Jack': from victim to victor
3 November 2011
50 students from Bexley Public School and 150 students from Condell Park Public School attended the Seymour Centre at The University of Sydney to see 'I am Jack' performed a stage adaptation of popular children's book with the same title by Susanne Gervay.
Student's from both schools enjoyed the performance as 11-year-old Jack took them on a touching and sometimes comical journey as he moved from victim to victor.
The students from Bexley are currently studying the book so seeing the performance provides an opportunity for deeper understanding of the text and motivated them to keep reading.
The Q&A question with Tim McGarry (who played Jack) was a hit with the Condell Park students, who have also read the book. Interesting questions were fired from every corner of the theatre.
