Recruiting in Revesby

17 May 2012

Star Bulldogs Rugby League player Corey Payne teamed up with University of Sydney staff and students on Wednesday 9 May to encourage young people from Sydney's south-western suburbs to take on university.

More than 650 people went to Revesby Workers' Club to meet current students from the area, including Payne, and ask questions about applying to the University, scholarships, costs, and admissions requirements.

Mr Payne was the Master of Ceremonies and shared his personal experiences in completing his undergraduate and now post graduate study at the University of Sydney. Representatives from the University of Sydney were present and answered all types of questions in relation to studying at the University of Sydney.

"The FDN is very grateful to Revesby Workers Club for holding this special event. We are also very grateful to the University of Sydney who has agreed to host this event in South West Sydney" Mr Payne stated.

The FDN aims to inform, inspire and educate students from South West Sydney in attaining higher education. A key component of the FDN program is to make information about tertiary education more accessible. "This is great opportunity for students to find their path to university. Parents are particularly encouraged to attend to learn more about university life, fees, courses and degrees", Mr Payne suggested.

Photos from the event are available on the University of Sydney Album page.

A video produced by FDN containing interviews with successful university graduates from South West Sydney is available in the Compass media section.
