This year Sustainable Campus is sponsoring one of the Genesis Business Plan Awards - the Best Green Opportunity Award.
The University currently uses over 88 million sheets of paper every year - that's 2.8 pages a second. In order to minimise the effect that the University's consumption of paper has on the environment, we are encouraging all Faculties and Service Units to consider using paper made from 100% post-consumer recycled content.
The University's new Envirobank machines are now up and running ready to collect your used plastic bottles and aluminium cans and rewards your efforts. Over 1500 plastic bottles & aluminium cans were collected in May, saving the equivalent energy that would be needed to power a 60 watt light bulb for over a year.
John Lavarack, Manager Campus Sustainability, Campus Infrastructure Services and Peter Wolnizer, Dean, Faculty of Economics and Business recently launched new recycling Machines called 'Envirobanks' currently on trial in the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The recent online staff survey hosted by Sustainable Campus, was an opportunity to gather thoughts and feedback on staff views on how the University is dealing with Sustainability issues and, for people to consider their own engagement with sustainability at a workplace level.
