Additional data storage available for researchers

4 May 2011

Information and Communications Technology provides the University research community a range of tools that facilitate data storage and management. Over the last 18 months the data storage service has proven increasingly popular, with demand constantly exceeding supply. Starting this month, researchers can obtain additional data storage space by contacting ICT.

ICT provides a data storage facility that enables researchers to record and retrieve critical records of their observations, images, survey results, simulation or modelling data. Researchers now have access to approximately 10 Terabytes of additional storage space per month. To request data storage space, please complete the request form available on the eResearch website or contact the ICT Helpdesk on 9351 6000. The eResearch support team will endeavour to process your request within a week of submission. Storage is provided on a 'first come, first served' basis and is made accessible to researchers through a shared network drive from Windows, Macintosh or Linux computers.

The extra data storage has been made available as part of an ongoing commitment to improve services for researchers at the University and meet the growing demand for data storage now and in the future. To find out more about the eResearch tools available, please visit the eResearch website.
