Windows 7 is the standard operating system for Dell computers

As of 13 May 2011 all new Dell computers have Windows 7, Microsoft's latest operating system, installed by default.Staff who still need to use Windows XP on new computers must specify this when placing your order.

Staff from areas that procure computers through ICT can request for a new computer with the Windows XP operating system by checking the 'Windows XP' option on the standard online order form. Staff from areas that procure directly from Dell should clearly indicate on the External Requisition that Windows XP is required, or should select the appropriate model marked 'Windows XP' via the PeopleSoft eProcurement system.

Dell makes Windows 7 computers to order and these will generally be delivered within 7-10 business days.
