On a bright sunny Saturday afternoon, a small group of residents made their way out to the IH log cabin in Belanglo State Forest for the annual stargazing trip.
First on the plans was a trip to the famous lake/pond/puddle (depending on your perspective) while diligently looking around for any signs of the wildlife, in particular, the elusive wombat.
As the temperatures dropped with the setting of the sun, there was a large BBQ before everyone bundled up and made their way outside to a telescope.
The lack of clouds proved very fortuitous, as we were able to catch glimpses of Saturn, Neptune, Alpha Centauri and the donut-shaped Helix Nebula.
