Foundation Day Dinner & Disco

5 August 2011

Foundation Day marked the first formal event of the second semester, and both new and returning residents donned their suits and dresses for the event. The night started off with entrees and refreshments in the Wool Room as usual, followed by a speech given by our guest speaker of the night, Adrian Diethelm.

Adrian Diethelm: Senior Lecturer, University of Notre Dame

Adrian Diethelm is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Notre Dame Australia and has extensive experience as a barrister and academic lawyer. His interests include legal philosophy, constitutional law and international law. Adrian is a resident academic at St John's College and was previously senior tutor at St Paul's College, University of Sydney.

Differing slightly from the usual arrangements, residents sat with others from their faculty for dinner. This was a great chance to meet alumni from their faculty, or start up a chat with some fellow students over the buffet-style selection of foods.

The night was far from over after the formal dinner, as residents returned to their rooms to prepare for the upcoming IHMA 90s themed disco. On the dance floor, it felt as if we had stepped back in time, with everyone dressed in their 90s gear and Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys blasting through the speakers.
