The Candlelight Dinner is a traditional formal dinner held at the end of the second semester every year. The event celebrates the values held by IH and of course the end of a great semester.
Charity Night is a fun sociable night in which residents, staff and SUIHAA get together in the Wool Room to raise money for a charity of choice. This year the charity chosen was OXFAM.
Bjornar Lassen a resident in 2008 became involved with the 100 projects for peace initiative, which is supported by IH. His project idea was accepted by the committee and funded with a $10 000 grant.
IHMA executive committee consists of three very fond poker players, the three of them took it upon themselves to organise an in-house casino event with the main event being poker.
The assistant director, Michael Patoka, organised an action packed weekend trip to Australia's capital city Canberra to enable residents to get to know the city and surrounding area.

The highly praised and exceedingly successful inaugural Walter Westman lecture, held at International House last September, lets IH proudly announce this years speaker will be John Connor, the CEO of Climate Institute of Australia. The next Walter Westman lecture will take place on the 17th of September 2009 at IH.
Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness organise casual sports on a weekly basis in the University Sports and Aquatic Centre. Since second semester 2008 International House has been participating in indoor soccer, netball and basketball.
In order to end an action packed semester in a worthy manner, the office and IHMA went all-out in the preparation of our last formal dinner and disco of the semester.
As the winter months start coming in and it becomes too cold for trips to Manly and Bondi beach, IH residents organised a weekend trip to the Snowy Mountains. The trip was organised by Pete who is a snow enthusiast and well acquainted with the region.
As part of life at International House residents are encouraged to embrace Uni life and participate in various university run functions and competitions. Several IH residents decided to test their public speaking skills in the highly prestigious Kirby Cup Public Speaking competition.

With 14 contestants entering this year's IH Idol auditions, the jury had plenty of residents to choose from for the biggest IH singing competition of the semester.

Australia is well known for epic landscapes, white beaches and great snorkelling. IH organises excusions for residents to enjoy Australia's phenomenal nature.
Throughout the semester IH organizes numerous small evening activities for students to participate in. This years activities kicked off with a chess tournament held in the dining hall.
First semester 2009 kicked off with the International Women's Day Dinner. The event offered a great opportunity for new residents to meet and greet other residents and staff!
