Special journal issue on energy and development in Laos
9 May 2012
The journal Forum for Development Studies has just published a special issue on energy and development in the Mekong region, with all articles partly or fully drawing on examples in Laos. The special issue features five articles all looking at the linkages between energy and development, and the contested nature of these linkages.Available here.
The five articles include one by Mattijs Smits, from the University of Sydney and AMRC, which is called 'The benefits and complexities of distributed electricity generation: Two Energy Trajectories in Laos and Thailand'. The author discusses energy trajectories mainly from the micro-perspective, comparing two villages from Thailand and Laos where decentralised micro-hydropower plants have been implemented.
