A fine ear for harmony (SMH)
2 October 2012
If you want to be the star of the musical show, you would not pick the tuba as your instrument of choice. It is not designed for a solo career. Unlike its more glamorous orchestral cousins, there's not much music written for it. And the tuba rarely plays melody.
''It's the foundation harmonically of whatever the ensemble is playing,'' Karl Kramer says. ''And being a middle child, that's always appealed to me.''
